Healthy Dieting - Losing Weight For Women

Diet. The dreaded "D" word. No wonder it's a four-letter word. We've all done it. We've failed, and went back to punishing ourselves all over again. Ladies, I'm just going to tell it to you straight. Dieting DOES NOT work. I don't care who says it does, it does not. I have learned to use the word "diet" in its proper context: the way people eat. My diet consists of whatever I like, but in sensible portions. Why deny yourself the things you enjoy? It leads to a huge binge and that is definitely not what we want to do.
Why do we deny ourselves the things we like?

I can't see just sitting around eating fruits and vegetables all the time to lose weight unless that is what you really like to eat. I grew up eating fried foods, meats, potatoes, and way too much junk. I stayed fit with all of the exercise I got in my younger years. As time progressed, I could not manage my weight as well. I was eating less junk food, in fact, I was denying myself many of the things I enjoyed. I still gained weight. After learning the true nature of my body and how to maintain it, I realized I can eat the food I enjoy, but I have to exercise.

Now there's a time limit to when it's safe to eat?

How many of us have heard, "do not eat after 8 PM." ? I have heard that so many times. This statement is ignorant. What difference does it make what time we eat? A calorie is a calorie no matter what time we ingest it. This rule does not work for my family. My husband works later and if we want to eat as a family a few times per week, we must wait until 8 or after. The kids eat earlier so they can go to bed on time, but I do wait occasionally until my husband gets home.

What REALLY works

Here is what we all need to do and I can tell you from experience, it works just fine. Eat breakfast. Find something healthy to eat. Eggs are very high in protein. Eat 1-2 in the morning poached or hard-boiled. With that, have a piece of wheat toast with a small pat of butter. Have a smoothie made from low fat yogurt and frozen berries. If you fuel your body in the morning, you will eat less during the day. It's true! The rest of the day, just make a few changes to the things you like. Wheat bread tastes just as yummy on a sandwich as white bread. Try it. Instead of slathering your sandwich with mayo, add a smaller amount. Snack on nuts or some light popcorn. If you like ice cream, have it. Either eat smaller amounts of the premium or have a normal portion of the sugar free variety. I tried it. It really is good. If you love macaroni and cheese, by all means, have it. Just try not to overload your plate with it. I even use smaller plates sometimes so it looks like I have a full plate, but I'm eating about 50-60% of what I used to. Enjoy your meals and try not to rush. Chew each bite and drink plenty of water. I also enjoy unsweetened tea, but if I am in the mood for sweetened, I go for it.

Eating right doesn't have to mean starving yourself. A combination of this and 30-60 minutes of exercise three times per week will give great results. If you don't have a gym nearby or cannot afford one, go walk. Don't let your neighborhood be an excuse. If you hate your neighborhood, drive to another one, park your car, and get out there. No excuses, ladies! You can do it.

Thigh Exercises For Women

For women, shaping the muscles of the thighs is an important fitness goal. A shapely lower body is considered very feminine, and the right proportion of the waist to the hips is part of the equation. It's surprising, but true, thigh toning exercises can be done at home, without equipment and results can be seen in 4-6 weeks. Also, did you know that thigh and hip toning gadgets are not required if you know which exercises work, and how to do them. Most importantly, thigh exercises are most effective when combined with aerobic exercise and a healthy diet.


This means that women must not only do the right thigh exercises, but also include aerobic exercise and sound nutrition to get best results. The following exercises are the most effective front thigh exercises for women. The routine also includes inner thigh and rear thigh exercises.


For best results, start with 15-20 repetitions and one set. Increase gradually to 2 sets. Complete the routine at least 2 times a week for best results. This is an effective beginner to intermediate toning program. Please remember that these numbers are general guidelines only. Wall Squat: Front Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: – Place your upper back against a smooth wall. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, toes pointed slightly outward. Distribute your body weight equally between both feet and lean back against the wall. Movement: – Inhale, keeping your heels in contact with the floor at all times, slowly lower into a squat position while sliding down the wall. Exhale as you slowly straighten your legs, keeping your head and chest up, returning to the starting position. Repeat as required.


Standing Dumbbell Squats: Front Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position:- Hold a dumbbell in each hand and allow them to hang down at your sides. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, toes pointed slightly outward. Distribute your body weight equally between both feet. Movement:- Inhale, keeping your heels in contact with the floor at all times, slowly lower into a squat position. Exhale as you slowly straighten your legs, keeping your head and chest up, returning to the starting position. Repeat as required. 5 lb dumbbells work well, but you can start with 2 lbs and then work your way up to 5 lbs within 3-5 weeks.


Lunges: Front Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: – Assume a standing position with your feet slightly less than shoulder width apart. Grasp a barbell with a wider than shoulder width grip and place it across your shoulders. Movement: – Inhale, keeping your back vertical and slightly arched, slowly step forward with one leg making a long stride, lowering your body down slowly until your rear knee lightly touches the floor (if you cannot go as low as this, then work your way up to it over 2-3 weeks). Exhale and shift your weight backwards, taking one step (or 2-3 small steps if that sounds difficult) to return to the starting position. Repeat on the other side. Remember to consult your doctor before this or any other knee exercises if you have had any knee trouble!


Lying Face Down: Front Thigh Stretch.

Starting Position: Lie on your stomach on a matt with your legs together. Movement: Reach behind you and grasp your right ankle with your left hand. Pull your right heel up as far as you can. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Repeat as required on other side. Please remember to hold for 10 seconds for this stretch.


Seated Split Stretch: Inner Thigh Stretch.

Starting Position: Sit on an exercise matt and spread your legs as far as you can. Movement: Lean to your right side and reach for your toes. Rest your hands on your toes or at your ankle. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Repeat as required on other side.


Seated Butterfly: Inner Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: Sit on an exercise matt with your back straight. Movement: Bring the soles of your feet together and pull them in as close to your body as you can. Allow your hands to rest on your feet or to apply light pressure to your thighs. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Hold this position for 10 seconds. You will find this most effective if you gently push your knees down using your hands, be careful not to push too much.


Seated Hip Twist: Outer Thigh And Rear Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: Sit on an exercise matt with your legs straight out in front of you. Movement: Bend your right knee and place your right foot over your left leg. Wrap your arms around your right knee and gently pull it in towards your left shoulder. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Repeat as required on other side. Remember to hold for 10 seconds.


Lying Leg Pull: Total Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: Lie on your back on an exercise matt with your knees in the air and feet flat on the floor. Movement: Bring your right heel to rest on your left thigh. Loop your hands around your left thigh and pull it towards your chest. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Repeat as required on other side. Remember to hold for 10 seconds in each set.

At first, this damage may show up as a loss of sheen — the sebaceous glands associated with the follicles produce less natural oil. But an iron deficiency will accelerate loss. Fortunately, this is fairly easily treated. All that is required is balancing the diet but keeping the portions small. That way, people can lose weight and keep their hair. The other more common reasons revolve around hormonal imbalance. During and immediately after pregnancy, many women experience hair loss. This is perfectly natural and there is no need to take any remedial action. As the body’s natural chemical balance is restored, hair growth will resume. However, allied to a hormone imbalance is the fact that stress will cause hair loss. Any trauma, physical or emotional, can trigger loss. A difficult labor, accidental injury or stress because of a death in the family, divorce or some other event will often cause a temporary loss of hair. As the stress levels diminish, hair growth will slowly resume. It is just a matter of being patient. Finally, it is only fair to make a distinction between hair loss and hair damage. Some women damage their hair by using chemicals, dye or excessive heat to color, straighten or curl their hair. The fact that hair is breaking off when damaged is not the same as natural baldness. Similarly, if there is excessive traction on the hair, say, pulled back into a tight ponytail, this can also cause loss. In the most common natural condition, the scalp follicles are affected by the excess production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The only real difference is in the result. Whereas men who suffer from androgenic alopecia develop a characteristic pattern on baldness, women simply lose the density of hair distributed over the scalp with only slight loss of hair on the front hairline. This thinning accelerates with age and, in older women can allow sight of the scalp. When this causes embarrassment, women affected will resort to wearing a wig in cooler climates. Where it is hot and there would be excessive sweating, women usually wear a scarf. The standard treatment for men is propecia which prevents the conversion of testosterone into DHT. Thus, in theory, this drug should work well in women. This is, however, subject to some controversy and the mainstream view is that women do not benefit. However, some doctors are prepared to prescribe propecia off-label, i.e. the FDA does not prohibit this use, it merely fails to formally approve it.
